Josee Koning Presents
60 Years of Brasil ’66 – The Music of Sergio Mendes
Who could possibly forget Mas Que Nada, the mega-hit by Sergio Mendes & Brasil ’66? Dutch singer Josee Koning and her band celebrate its 60th anniversary with a vibrant show entitled “60 Years of Brasil ’66 – The Music of Sergio Mendes”. Accompanied by singer Egle Petrosiute, Josee performs the music that made Sergio Mendes one of the greatest Brazilian artists of his time: Mas que nada of course, but also his Brazilian adaptations of classics such as The Fool on the Hill (The Beatles) and Scarborough Fair (Simon & Garfunkel). And many more songs in wich Mendes blended bossa nova, samba, pop, and jazz, creating that unique sound that firmly placed Brazilian music on the world stage.
Josee and Egle present their dynamic and balanced performance of Mendes’ rich collection of works, featuring the talents of virtuoso pianist Hans Vroomans, top drummer Yorán Vroom, and versatile bassplayer Matheus Nicolaiewsky. Together they play Mendes’ music with craftsmanship, energy, and warmth, making 60 Years of Brasil ’66 – The Music of Sergio Mendes a soulful tribute, full of rhythm, class, and pure Brazilian groove!
